Explanation

These are the current restrictions as of September 2022 that occur when updating your VAIO to Windows 11 2022 Update (Ver.22H2).

Table of Contents

  • Switching from AC to battery operation after restarting may cause the device to go to sleep
  • When “Turn off the display” is changed to “Never”, it does not sleep even if the timer is set
  • “Start Paint” and “Start Paint 3D” in the image editing screen menu of “VAIO Clipping Tool” may not be displayed
  • The brightness of the device’s display may change when rotating or changing the resolution in the “Display” settings, or when connecting/disconnecting an external display
  • When Themes is set to Dark mode, the system sound becomes very low
  •  Quiet Hours” under “Settings”-“System” has been renamed “Focus assist” and the setting items have been changed.
  • Switching from AC to battery operation after restarting may cause the device to go to sleep

【Incident】

Unplugging the AC adapter from the device after restarting may cause the device to go into sleep mode.
This occurs only for the first time after restarting.

【Workaround】

This can be avoided by going to “Hardware and Sound” in the Control Panel, then to “Power Options” and changing the “Choose what closing the lid does” and “Choose what the power button does” battery operation settings to “Do nothing”.

Apply the BIOS update program for the following models.

  • When “Turn off the display” is changed to “Never”, it does not sleep even if the timer is set

【Incident】

Just like the VJZ141*, which are compatible with modern standby, the previous models have been changed to not enter sleep mode unless the “Turn off the display” setting is set for the time the display is turned off.

【Workaround】

Set the time to turn off the display to the same time it goes to sleep.

  • “Start Paint” and “Start Paint 3D” in the image editing screen menu of “VAIO Clipping Tool” may not be displayed

【Incident】

In the “Save” menu after clipping with the “VAIO Clipping Tool”, the action after “Copy” can be selected from “Start OneNote (Store)”, “Start Paint”, and “Start Paint 3D”, but “Start Paint” and “Start Paint 3D” may not be displayed.

【Workaround】

Please install and use “VAIO Clipping Tool for UWP” from Microsoft Store.

  • The brightness of the device’s display may change when rotating or changing the resolution in the “Display” settings, or when connecting/disconnecting an external display

【Incident】

When changing the screen orientation or resolution in [Settings]→[Display] settings, if you connect/disconnect an external display, the brightness of the device’s display may change to an unintended brightness.

【Workaround】

If the brightness has changed, readjust the brightness manually ([Settings]→[Display] settings, or [Fn]+[F5] or “F6” on the keyboard).

  • When Themes is set to Dark mode, the system sound becomes very low

【Incident】

After upgrading to Windows 11, system sound is very low when Dark mode is set as the theme.
This is a specification of Dark mode in Windows 11, so to avoid this, please perform either ① or ② below.

  • Set the theme to Light mode.
    ※If you want to change the color, customize Accent color individually.
  • In the Themes Sound settings, specify the Wav file directly for each system volume to be played.
    ※Changing from the pull-down list will not make any changes.

  • Quiet Hours” under “Settings”-“System” has been renamed “Focus assist” and the setting items have been changed.

Also, various items of “Quiet Hours” are now set in “Settings” – “System” – “Notifications”.
