Countermeasure for heat
PC contain parts that release heat when used. For this reason, prolonged usage during hot days in the summer can cause malfunctions.  The heart of computer, your Central Processing Unit (CPU) is constructed so that in high temperature it will stop running to its fully potential to avoid overheating.  Due to this, the speed may slow down or it may not run properly. If the temperature increases even more, the protection circuit will run and shut down the computer automatically to cool it down.

This is the reason that your computer suddenly shuts off or restarts automatically.  Also using the computer in this condition can cause a low temperature burn.

Many PCs have cooling fan to prevent them from overheating.  If you are using the computer in places where the fan gets blocked or if there is dust in the fan, the cooling system will not function.  Using the PC properly and cleaning it frequently will make it last longer.  Listed below are ways you can use to prevent the PC’s internal temperature from rising.

Avoid direct sunlight.
Keep your work space well ventilated.
Avoid using the computer near home appliances.
Avoid using your computer in a highly humid area, like your bathroom or kitchen.
Avoid using your computer in very dusty areas.
Do not place anything near the computer heat vents.

Caution: Your VAIO computer is designed to be safe, but using it in an unsafe or wrongful manner can lead to breakage or accidents.

Please read the precautions below for safe usage.
Do not block any vents.
Placing the PC on top of rugs, blankets, etc. can block the vents which can lead to fire.
Dusty vents can also lead to rise in temperature.

Countermeasure for lightning strikes
Lightning strikes can cause electrocution or breakage of the VAIO computer.
Lightning strikes can also lead to what is called “induced lightning.” This can run through phone lines and the AC power circuit and can break the PC.

Reference: Please keep in mind that breakage from fire, earthquake, lightning, and wind and water damage will not be covered by warranty.

Please follow the following steps if lightning is forecasted:
1. Unplug power cable.
2. Unplug any cables connected to external lines such as phone cables and network cables.
3. Unplug any antenna lines. The use of surge protector is recommended.  For countermeasures, please contact the manufacturer.

Caution: Use caution when unplugging cords if you start hearing thunder.  Please refer to Q&A below if you encounter any troubles after a lightning has stroke.
