Precautions when discarding/giving/selling PC
Data recorded on the SSD/hard drive (internal storage) is not completely deleted just by deleting file or formatting the drive.
There is a possibility that it may be restored using a special software, so we recommend you deleting data completely by using specialized software.

How to delete data from SSD/hard drive (internal storage)
The following is a method to delete data using Windows 10 recovery media.
Please note that this method does not delete data completely. We recommend completely deleting your data by using specialized software.

  1. While the power is on, connect the Windows 10 recovery media.
  2. Turn the power off.
  3. Press the power button while holding in either the [+] or [-] button on the volume control button.
  4. [VAIO rescue mode] screen will be displayed, so select [Startup BIOS setting].
  5. [Choose your keyboard layout] screen will be displayed, so select [US].
  6. [Choose an option] screen will be displayed, so select [Troubleshoot].  
  7. [Troubleshoot] screen will be displayed, so select [Recover from a drive]
  8. [Remove from a drive] screen will be displayed, so select [Fully clean the drive].
  9. [Recover from a drive] screen will be displayed, so select [Recover].
  10. Recovery will start, so please wait a while.

Precautions
Deleting the drive and recovery using this method can take take several hours. Please have the AC adapter connected the entire time.

  1. After Windows restarts for several times, [Windows setup] screen will be displayed.

 
All operations are now complete.
