About battery life and run time
The battery’s run time slowly decreases when used for an extended amount of time. For example, a brand new battery that can run for 10 hours may only last 6 hours after it has been used for a while. Your battery’s run time will also slowly decrease if it is constantly plugged into an AC adapter. Rough estimate: The battery run time will decrease into half in about 2 years if you discharge it every day. Battery life is affected by temperature and usage. The battery life is not guaranteed. Depending on the usage, your battery’s run time may be longer or shorter. Also, the way you use your battery can affect the battery’s run time. The battery run time will be shorter when watching DVD or using internet through wireless LAN than it would be when you are creating a word document.

You can click the battery icon on the task tray to determine the remaining battery run time.
Caution: Depending on your operating system, the remaining battery run time will not be displayed on the VJZ13A series compatible with InstantGo.

How to make battery run time last longer.
There are various aspects that affect the battery run time, such as screen brightness and cooling fan setting. This is called your Power Supply Plan. Below are examples of how to extend battery running time:
Use Sleep or Standby mode.
When leaving the computer for a few minutes, put it into “Sleep” mode. Sleep mode is when the computer remains on and leaves your tasks running, but is in a power saving mode.
When leaving for a while, put your computer in “Stand-by” mode. Stand-by mode is when the computer turns off the current tasks that you are working on and saves them to the hard disc.
Unplug unnecessary peripherals
Unplugging unnecessary peripherals might save power.
Lower the volume
Save power by lowering or muting the speaker or headphones.
Dim the screen
Save power by dimming the brightness instead of maximizing the brightness.
