How to Check the Disk Drive for Errors (ScanDisk) (Win 8.1)

Run ScanDisk from the Properties screen of My PC

Method of operation
The directions may differ based on the computer model.

  1. Display This PC.
  2. Right-click (press and hold on the touch panel) the drive that you want to scan and then select Properties.

  1. On the Properties screen, select the Tools tab and then select “Check” button in the Error Checking section.

  1. When the Error Checking screen is displayed, choose Scan Drive.

Reference
You can scan the disk, even if it says that that it is not necessary.

 

  1. When the scan starts, the Error Checking screen is displayed.  Please be patient while the computer scans the drive.

  1. When it is completed, the message “Your drive was successfully scanned” will appear.  You can select the Close button.
